ULTRASONIC CLEANING

circles

MC2 offers design, engineering, development, and general expertise in ULTRASONIC cleaning, including ultrasonic cleaning system testing and evaluation to determine the efficiency of the cleaning process.  Evaluation includes ultrasonic tank configuration, transducer type and placement, degassing and cavitation efficiency and optimization, cleaning cycle, cleaning efficiency, cleaning solution, fixture design, fluid dynamics, and overall operational characteristics.

CASE STUDIES

The following are several examples of how companies were helped through a Contamination Control Assessment.

CASE STUDY #1
Evaluation of ultrasonic cleaning systems at an automotive parts manufacturer showed deficiencies in parts cleaning fixture design that severely reduced cleaning efficiency.  Improvement in fixturing enhanced cleaning and improvement in parts cleanliness to acceptable levels.

CASE STUDY #2
Tests run on ultrasonic cleaning system at a laser manufacturing facility showed that insufficient cavitation was being generated in the cleaning tank.  Critical components while thought to have been ultrasonically cleaned in the system, were in actuality not cleaned and contributed to poor laser performance.  Replacement of the ultrasonic cleaning tank dramatically improved parts cleanliness.

CASE STUDY #3
The ultrasonic cleaning system used at a ceramic disk manufacturing facility showed that the ultrasonic cleaning system was of the wrong frequency and was causing damage to the crystal surface by the intense ultrasonic activity.  Other deficiencies were also found in the cleaning parameters and fixture design.  Correction of these problems resulted in greatly improved parts cleanliness and elimination of damage.
